 This site is my own. I have been working on it for well over a year and have been toying with the idea in concept for much longer. The site is my first attempt at developing a site as an internet developer.
There are seven (7) sections to the website. - A Community Guide
- A News Section
- A Weather Section
- A Community Discussion Board (Forum)
- A Community Calendar
- A Directory
- A Classified Advertisements Section
The “Community Guide” section (Joomla) is intended to be priariliy of inerest to newcomers, visitors, and potential residents of Franklin County, VA. In this section there is basic information about each community within the county, some pictures of landmarks, a map (or a link to a map) & links to statistical data (if available). The “News” section (Joomla) consists of Local News and events reported on by me. In the future I would like to find some local high school or college students who want to be professional journalists. I would like to offer them the opportunity to do an internship and build a portfolio of work. I also plan on doing some video reporting like the very short video story featured here.
The Weather section (Joomla) displays local weather information from a couple of sources & automatically updates as those sources update their information. The Forum section (MyBB) is intended as a place where the people of Franklin County can discuss almost any issue they want. From sports to politics, local events to national events. The only things I am forbidding are porn and illegal stuff. The Calendar (MyBB) is a place where anyone can freely post up events that would be of interest to people in Franklin County Virginia. The Directory is a listing of all the businesses, clubs, churches, non-profits, government entities, and other organizations within the county. A listing is free for any organization within Franklin County. People can upgrade for a small fee. They can also post articles that will inform people about their business or industry. The Classifieds is just that a section with classified advertisements. |
My goal is to provide my clients with professional web development, design, hosting, and maintenance services that do not add to the numerous burdens already faced by small business owners. But rather, create a seemingly effortless Internet marketing presence on the world wide web for my clients to grow and expand their businesses with.
